Everything You Need to Know About Going to Rehab

If you’re reading this, something inside you may be asking a question.

Maybe it’s quiet.
Maybe it’s urgent.
Maybe it’s just a thought you can’t ignore anymore:

“Is it time?”

At Altitude Recovery Community, our luxury detox and residential rehab in Camarillo, CA, we meet people in this exact moment every day. Professionals. Parents. Executives. Individuals rebuilding after legal consequences. People who look “fine” on the outside — but know something isn’t sustainable anymore. Here’s what you can expect when you make the decision to enter treatment.

What Is Addiction — And How Is It Treated?

Addiction is a chronic but treatable medical condition that affects brain chemistry, emotional regulation, and behavior. It often develops gradually, especially in high-functioning individuals who continue working, leading families, and managing responsibilities.

Treatment typically includes:

  • Medical detoxification – Safely managing withdrawal symptoms under clinical supervision.
  • Residential inpatient treatment – Structured, 24-hour care in a private, supportive setting away from daily triggers.
  • Dual-diagnosis treatment – Addressing co-occurring mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, or trauma alongside substance use.

At Altitude Recovery Community in Ventura County, we combine evidence-based therapies, holistic practices, and individualized care to treat not just the substance use — but the underlying causes driving it.

Signs It May Be Time for Detox or Residential Rehab

You may benefit from treatment if:

  • You’ve tried to cut back or stop and haven’t been able to.
  • You rely on substances to sleep, manage stress, or feel “normal.”
  • You hide your use from family, colleagues, or friends.
  • Your work performance is slipping — or takes more effort than it used to.
  • You’ve experienced legal or professional consequences.
  • You feel anxious, depressed, or emotionally numb when not using.
  • You’re afraid of what might happen if nothing changes.

You don’t have to meet every item on this list. If even one resonates, it may be time to talk with someone.

“But I’m Still Functioning…”

Many of our clients are high-achieving professionals, executives, or individuals who have maintained careers, reputations, and responsibilities.

Functioning does not mean thriving.

If maintaining appearances takes increasing effort, if alcohol or drugs feel like the only way to unwind, or if you are privately exhausted from holding everything together, you deserve support before things unravel.

For Professionals & Executives

Our luxury rehab in Camarillo offers:

  • Discreet admissions
  • Semi-private and private rooms with en-suite bathrooms

For Those Rebuilding After Legal Challenges

If substance use has led to justice-involved experiences, treatment can be the turning point. Structure, accountability, and clinical support create space for real, sustainable change.

For Parents

You may be carrying guilt. Fear. Concern about leaving your children for 30 days.

Seeking treatment is not abandoning your family — it is choosing to return stronger, more present, and emotionally available.

What Happens When You Say Yes?

Many people fear the unknown more than treatment itself. Here’s what typically happens:

  • Step 1: A Confidential Call

You speak directly with our admissions team. No pressure. Just clarity.

  • Step 2: Insurance Verification

We work with most major PPO and POS plans with out-of-network benefits to minimize out-of-pocket costs. (We are unable to accept Medi-Cal, Medicaid, or Medicare at this time.)

  • Step 3: Arrival at Our Residences

Our luxury detox and residential homes are nestled at the base of the Conejo foothills in Ventura County — peaceful, private, and restorative.

  • Step 4: Medical Detox (If Needed)

If withdrawal management is necessary, our team ensures safety and comfort in a supervised setting.

  • Step 5: Personalized Treatment Plan

You’ll receive a comprehensive clinical assessment to create a plan tailored specifically to you.

Through evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed care, we help clients develop emotional regulation skills and sustainable coping strategies.

FAQs

Yes. Discretion is foundational to our admissions and treatment process.

Many professionals use PTO, medical leave, or FMLA protections. We can discuss options during your confidential call.

You don’t need total certainty. Many clients begin treatment feeling ambivalent. Clarity often follows action.

We offer 30-, 60-, and 90+ day programs depending on your needs.

Altitude Recovery Community works with most major insurance providers who cover out-of-network benefits. Typically PPO, POS or EPO plans that will cover almost all of the costs associated with treatment.

In addition to accepting private insurance, we offer affordable self-pay rates.

Inpatient treatment like Altitude Recovery, typically referred to as residential treatment, is when a client lives on-site 24 hours a day and receives clinical treatment throughout the day. Outpatient treatment is when a client lives at home or in a sober living environment and attends treatment a few days a week on an outpatient basis.

Of course! We encourage loved ones to participate in the treatment process. From family workshops to virtual therapy sessions, we are here to make sure your entire family heals from the disease of addiction.

Typically, detox can last anywhere from 7-10 days, sometimes less and sometimes more, depending on the user’s history with substances. Altitude Recovery Community utilizes the latest advancements and medications to ensure a safe and comfortable detox process.

You are free to leave at any time. Treatment is completely voluntary and while we encourage everyone to complete their stay in treatment, we cannot force you to stay.

Dual-diagnosis treatment is treatment for substance abuse and co-occurring mental illness. Over 43% of those with a substance abuse disorder suffer from a co-occurring mental illness that can be a barrier to success in recovery. Here at Altitude Recovery Community, we help identify and treat any issues that could stop you from succeeding in recovery.

Once you become a part of our community you are with us for life. The Altitude Recovery Community is here for our clients long after they leave our program. Before you leave, we will ensure you have an aftercare plan that works for your needs.
